According to ICF: “The primary focus of coaching is on creating actionable strategies for achieving specific goals in one’s work or personal life.” That?could be achieving career goals, communicating within relationships, clearing distractions or building stronger boundaries – all taking your sensitive trait into consideration.
If you are seeking help for trauma, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, deeper relationship issues, or deep emotional wounds due to a painful past, please see our therapist section.
As of July 9, 2019, we are requiring that?coaches in this list be?ICF (International Coach Federation) credentialed?to the level of PCC.? We no longer feel that simply training at an ICF-accredited school – without an ICF credential – is sufficient.? Coaches listed prior to this change may not be ICF credentialed.?Please?inquire of the coach if?you want to work with someone who does not indicate a?credential in their listing.??Coaching is a relatively new field. Unlike licensed professions, coaching is not yet government regulated. But coaching is regulated by its professional organization,?and for a PCC requires over 125 hours of training and over?500?hours of coaching experience, as well as adherence to a rigorous set of ethics.? We chose to limit our coaches to those associated with the ICF because we found that some coaches receive very little training, sometimes 16 hours or less before they are certified—meaning that?the main “requirement” is the fee?they pay.? In contrast, licensed psychotherapists typically intern for 3000 hours, at great expense. Coaching is quite different?to therapy,?and can be very helpful, but we do feel a minimum professional requirement is important.?And, most important,?all of these coaches?have passed a test on the information in the?DVD:?A Live Seminar? On?Psychotherapy and The Highly Sensitive Person, or in the book,?Psychotherapy and the Highly Sensitive Person.
Please note: Elaine does not know personally most of the people on this list and being on it does not mean she recommends them beyond the requirements of this list.
